The Buffalo was established in 1972 as our first National River. It is one of the most scenic, free-flowing rivers in the U.S. It is a top-notch whitewater floating stream, while also providing a milder float for the more tame in us. It is an area of towering limestone bluffs, myriad waterfalls, and wild places, rugged and magical. The Buffalo River Trail system is as remarkable as the river itself. A great way to see the Buffalo is to canoe downstream and hike back to your car.
